You announce a maximum protected area of 4 hectares, which is not much when you have to protect tens of hectares...

It is not just the volume of sound that makes the device effective, but the choice of sounds that creates an unusual and disturbing environment; birds will prefer a more reassuring place to feed. The maximum sound power is 120 decibels at 1 metre, so 4 hectares is the calculated area around the device. 

Moreover, birds rarely attack the whole field. For example, on a 10 hectare field, only a part of the field is targeted by birds. In this case, the AviTrac® should be placed as close as possible to this area.

If you need to protect several tens of hectares, it will certainly be necessary to equip yourself with several devices.

Can we increase the protected area ?

Yes, you just need to place the AviTrac® in a strategic place, where the damage is recurrent every year, because the birds start by feeding in the places where they are quiet, and then, little by little, they invade the plot by following the seed rows.

We recommend taking advantage of the terrain (flat or hilly) and placing the AviTrac® in such a way that the sound resonates against an edge of a bank or trees. You can also take into account the prevailing winds and place the device so that the sound is carried in the desired direction.

The emitted signals

Do birds get used to the scaring sounds ?

We have supported research in this area because we are familiar with the habituation problems. Our repellers are equipped with a memory card with many different scare signals. In order to maintain the surprise effect, the sounds emitted are random and never in a regular order.

At the same time, it is strongly recommended to move the device regularly so that the source of the sound signal changes.

How to choose the sounds ?

The selection of sounds is based on the species of birds you wish to scare away. We indicate the choice of repertories in the user manual supplied with the AviTrac®.

What types of signals are emitted ?

- Distress calls from target birds
- Birds of prey calls
- Synthetic signals

Where do the sounds of the AviTrac® scaring device come from?

They are developed by research laboratories specialising in the acoustic scaring of birds.

Are the sounds a nuisance to the neighbourhood ?

We recommend that the sound is emitted at least every 20 minutes. The numerous signals are not repeated and are therefore better tolerated. We also recommend keeping a distance from residential areas (generally at least 200 metres) and explaining the usefulness of sound scaring for the preservation of seedlings. Setting up

Is the AviTrac® bird scare device sensitive to weather conditions? ?

No, because it consists of a waterproof housing and a stainless steel chassis. The weather has no influence on the operation of the electronic board.

However, we remind you that it is imperative to close the window in order to protect the electronic module from the weather and to orientate the loudspeakers horizontally, so that rainwater or humidity does not stagnate there.

Can we leave the scarecrow in place while the seedlings are emerging? ?

To increase the surprise effect, we strongly recommend moving it a little on the field or changing the orientation every 2 to 3 days.

Will my fields be protected in the morning and evening when the days get longer?

Yes, you just need to adjust the start and end times of the sounds. You also have the option of setting the device to the " Luminosity " alarm. This means that it will emit from sunrise to sunset, without any other settings.
